Reptile hides help your pet snake or lizard feel more secure. Even if they don't use it much they are less stressed if they know they have a place to run and hide when a predator comes close. We know it won't happen but they do not.
It is best to provide one on the cool side and one on the warm side so they don't need to choose between feeling safe and regulating there body temperature. Also when housing multiple animals in the same enclosure we recommend having at least one more hide than there are animals in the cage. This reduces the chance of them fighting over the hid places.
